Serious Problems!

Alright guys, so this one is kind of crazy.

Basically I had jailbroken my iphone 3gs a while ago on 4.2.1, and had it working fine and so on.

Then I recently wanted to activate my phone, it was attached to a different company and I needed to unlock it

So, after unlocking it, I tried to update it by entering DFU mode, and I completely failed, and got stuck in a recovery loop
that cannot be solved using tinyumbrella or Ireb...

And whenever I try to recover it using a predownloaded firmware using the itunes shift click meathod, it just reads "uncompatable with you device" over and over for every firmware available for my iphone 3gs (and yes, it is a 3gs im nto stupid).

I am capable of getting it into pwn dfu mode.

So my question, does anyone know how to stop this loop or inform me how to fix this uncompatable error with itunes?

What I have tried:
Regular recovery (it loops)
Tiny Umbrella (It re-loops)
Ired (It re-loops)
google (

I have tried making custom firmwares with snowbreeze, but like I said before my itunes will not let me install any premade firmwares because of the message: Firmware File is not compatable.

*Is it possible because of my first attempt to update it I could have gotten the firmware completely messed up, like accidently update half of it or something to 6.0?
* I also have shsh blobs from 4.2.1

Did you flash you baseband to the iPad baseband while ticking deactivate with RedSn0w when jailbreaking?

Umm, no because it's a iphone 3gs. Should I do that?

Try a fresh install using the restore function in RedSn0w. Just upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 first for now

Could you possibly explain this restore function to me please? I really just want to get the phone out of recovery mode now, I dont even care about jail breaking, im sure I can do it again later if I can just get it back to a regular firmware. And I have no idea how to update to 6.0.1 since it is stuck in this recovery loop. Please help! Thanks!

Download the IPSW that you want to upgrade to (6.0.1 default, others only if you have SHSH blobs for). Open up RedSn0w and connect your iPhone. Go to Extras > Even More > Restore. Select IPSW, point it to the IPSW you're restoring to. If you're not upgrading to iOS 6.0.1 and have blobs for other iOS, you can use them at this screen either locally looking for them on your computer, or remotely by retrieving them from Cydia. If you're going iOS 6.0.1, don't worry about it. Then follow the on-screen instructions. You can put your iPhone into DFU mode while plugged in before starting all this if you would like.

If you run into any errors, use the common techniques to resolve them. 3194 is a host issue. Remove any gs.apple.com lines from your host file and delete the host.umbrella file under the same directory as your host file. 160X is a driver/port issue. Try changing USB ports and/or removing the driver for the device, reboot your computer and try again. Error 2X is from not putting your device into DFU mode, so do use DFU mode in the process or it won't work/you'll get an error.

Im currently downloading ios 4.1 since I have the blobs saved on my phone and I recovered them using tiny umbrella. Im going to stich them using redsnow and then ill install it on the phone. I hope it works, either way you'll be hearing from me soon

Umm just a quick question, I just have to stich them together and then select it under install custom firmware right? Nothing else needed once im in dfu mode?

You don't have to stitch them. The restore function automatically does it for you, which is why you can select your blobs locally or remotely. It's all built in. And nope. Once you're in DFU mode, RedSn0w will restore it using the stitched IPSW that it makes itself. However, if you do get an error 2X even though you're in DFU mode, you might need to be in Pwned DFU mode. I'm not sure whether it's DFU or Pwned DFU since you did say that your iPhone was halfway to iOS 6 during the upgrade before it was interrupted, so we don't know if this process is considered a re-restore of iOS 4.1 or a downgrade from iOS 6. Trial and error will tell us

I know that it can be fixed now, probably easily, but after I used the recovery mode, selecting 4.2.1 and having the blobs and everything, it is now at the recovery screen again, but with the emergancy slider this time. Should I just recover now using itunes, or will that mess it up again? Thanks so much! -Daniel / Raginpirate

I would suggest so. Do a fresh restore using iTunes and DFU mode to make sure everything on the device is fresh spanking new

Thank you so much! Ive got it working fine now, I appreciate your support. Is there any way I can like you account or something XD Anyways I have reactivated the phone and its fine running cydia! I dont know why I hadn't tried that recovery mode earlier

Hey, I don't mean to be a pest, but my unlocked the phone using snowbreeze after, and it is working fine for everything but two things:
1. I dont have battery percentage (Weird) this doesn't bother me too much
2. My Koodo sim card is just comming up with No Service. (My firmware is 06.15.00)

Do you have any idea why the sim is not working? Its perfectly fine, Koodo's servers are not down or anything and I selected to activate the phone in Snowbreeze.
