Agree, gaz... Seems like the manual that shows "everything" pictorially would include the proximity sensor too! But.... it's a minor issue. Not to worry.

The easiest way to tell is to look at some of the cases, like the OtterBox Defender, and see where the openings are.

You used to be able to spot on the 3GS as a dark red dot under the front panel near the top speaker but only if you held it at a certain angle under a certain light. It's completely invisible on the 4G. Lol...
