On Wednesday, the coffee chain updated its mobile app to support Apple Pay on iOS devices with Touch ID. The addition of Apple Pay allows users to refill their Starbucks cards within the mobile app. The user can do this by simply choosing the amount of simoleons they wish to add and confirm the transaction using the Touch ID sensor.
While the update is welcome, Apple announced that Starbucks would support Apple Pay as a launch partner. However, the company took several months to add the service and it still only supports Apple Pay within the app, using a barcode scanner and instead of NFC at locations...bummer...
The Starbucks app has still yet to see support for the iPhone 6, but it still runs fine, and is available on the App Store for free.
