According to a new survey from Piper Jaffray, the iPhone, along with the MacBook are the top two most wanted gifts this holiday season.
Of the two, the iPhone was way out in front, with 7.2% of those surveyed saying that they wanted a new iPhone most of all, up from 5.2% last year. The MacBook came in second with 2.1% popularity among those polled, pushing last year’s second placing, Microsoft’s Xbox, down into third place with 1.4% of respondents putting it at the top of their wish lists.
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said that the iPhone 7 is still very much in demand, despite only being a relatively unspectacular update to the range. Munster added that Apple’s reintroduction of its Black Friday promotions last week does not represent any weakening in demand for Apple products, in fact quite the contrary, as this survey shows. Interesting to note too how popular the new MacBooks are with consumers, despite some less than stellar reviews.
