Syncing calendars with all devices

We have an iMac, iPad Mini and--this weekend--and iPhone 6. How can I sync the same calendar information to all 3 devices? I have been using both the Yahoo and the Apple calendars and neither one does what I want.

If you go to Settings>iCloud>Calendars and slide the switch to on, all calendar events should sync through iCloud to all devices using the same iCloud account. This works with the standard calendar app in all Apple devices.
