Text issues

Something weird going on with my texts since update. But just with my sons phone number. When I text him, I get a copy of what I've sent as a text to me from my phone number!
And yesterday I was seeing texts between him and his friend. That seemed to stop when he shut off iMessage.
I don't want to shut iMessage off as I like using it with other people I text (including my husband who I don't have this issue with)
Any ideas?

If you're sharing the same Apple ID as your son, you'll get the iMessages being sent to both ends. Or, if you restored either of your devices using the backup from the other party's phone, that would result in one of you having the same Apple ID logged in as the other.

Must be the Apple ID. New since update?

It's always been the case AFAIK. It might've been a sync that caused it or something of the sort.

Try using your phone number for "send and receive"
