I upgraded from an iPhone 3G (yes, I know I waited a LONG TIME and was frustrated for many months!!!!) but I digress......

Everything is awesome, but when I synched to iTunes, I did not choose to move mail, contacts, etc. because I use google mail through our company. I successfully added my mail account and INSTANTLY I had all mail, thousands of contacts and calendar synched with the iPhone 4S.

My issue is I must have not chosen something properly as all my text messages history is not on the new phone. Is there any way to go back and get all those messages?

Thanks for the help. Apple you have done it again with a great product, especially Siri!!!

It's my understanding that most everything will transfer over except for text messages. They never have for me. Good luck

Hopefully someone can answer this question for me because I am BEYOND frustrated.

I updated the new software on (iphone 4) Wednesday, but could not sync between devices. Although it was frustrating, I really wasn't THAT worried because I had already per-ordered the new iPhone 4s. I received the new phone on Friday the 14rh, and as luck would have it, things seem worse now! Although I am able to sync, I cannot message between devices. I'm having to renter my password for my email accounts on a repeated basis, and my iBooks is not updating between devices. All my settings are ON. This is not pleasing me. Please help me get back on my; Happy Boat.

I was having the same problem and it was driving me nuts, as texts had always transferred previously. I finally figured it out. They won't transfer with just a sync. What you need to do is actually backup your old phone (connect your phone, then right click on your phone in iTunes, and click "backup"). After that's done, connect your new phone, then right click on it in iTunes, and select "restore from backup". That'll get everything, including the texts, transferred over. If you have multiple backups showing in iTunes, make sure you choose the latest backup (which you just did) to restore from

I was ready the break something because I was so pizzed off. I went to the Apple store and they said to call Apple Care, and they told me to go to AT&T, and all 3 said it wasn't possible if it wasn't going automatically, even though I showed them that I ad texts on my iPhone 4 from 2009, even though the iPhone 4 didn't come out until 2010. Dumb arses. Lol
