Tweaking iphone help

I am very new to the iphone world with this being my first and with that comes the first jaklbreak. A mate told me I could personalise practically anything I want and proceeded to show me the basics. I want to change all mi icons transparent, I have downloaded a couple of sources that change some but not all. Does anyone know how to do it manually or know of any sources that do it automatically. If this is wrong place to ask please let me know where to go.
