unable to sync videos to 3gs

hi guys im have a problems trying to restore my ringtones and videos back to iphone after a restore.
the iphone showed the usb plug symbal ,
so after i pluged in and opened itunes a message said i need to update my phone before restore.
this went smoothly downloaded my apps from purchase etc all ok upto now.
i cant get my ringtones back or videos ,
i can see them on itunes ,i have ticked the boxes to sync but no way will they transfer to iphone .
the version is 5.1.1 on the iphone and has not been jailbroken,can any one help
