Upgrade to 5.0.1 wiped out photos and apps.

I did a sync to iTunes, and downloaded the 5.0.1 upgrade on my iPhone 4. When everything was done, no photos or apps other than the defaults. Anyway to get this back? And worst of all my contacts are gone.
