Uptade jailbreaken ios

I have a jailbreaken iOS 4.1, and I am really dying to update it to iOS 5.0+

Will my phone get blocked? Will it get formatted ? Will anything happen??
(I don't really care about the majority of the apps)

When you upgrade firmwares you will always lose all the jailbreak apps, but if you update then you wont lose the app store ones unless you perform a restore then it will delete everything but then you can restore to a backup of the device and have the app store apps the way they are now..

will it block? well that depends on if you rely on unlock and use any tools like ultrasn0w to unlock or any hardware unlocks such as gevey sim?

To add: you also will be able to go back and re-install your Cydia tweaks, also. With one caveat: that the tweaks have been upgraded and work with iOS 5.0.1.

Regarding the blocking thing /-- I just jailbreaked my phone and it was already unlocked when I bought it from the shop( I think so

You can check if its unlocked by simply trying another microsim in it.

I use apt backup in order to save my cydia tweaks.

Your phone won't lose its unlocked to all networks with a jailbreak.
The baseband is a completely different thing.

i prefer to use redsn0w un tethered for jb.
