Can Facetime work well between, say, an iPhone and an iPad if one of the devices isn't on WiFi - just on 3G?

I don't think Apple lets us FaceTime over 3G, unless you install 3G Unrestrictor from Cydia.

You can just add the 3Gvenice string to N9xx.plist.

I have Verizon's unlimited data plan. I'm not about to jeopardize that by jailbreaking my phone.

jailbreaking is legal and Verizon would not be able to tell you did it.

But I would'nt do it because of the adverse effects of jailbreaking.

I like my phone to work.

Yeah, as the other guy said, Jailbreaking won't jeopardize anything. Now, tethering might, but not Jailbreaking.

Lol. Jailbreaking has no adverse effects. People Installing random tweaks without reading about them cause adverse effects. But most certainly not jailbreaking. Cracks up, every time I hear someone talk about jailbreaking messing up there phone.lol. The user messes up the device, not the jailbreak.

Its up to the owner but like others said it in no way jeopardizes your phone. Should anything happen you can restore to factory settings and your warranty is good again.

Jailbreaking has no adverse effects?

Jailbreaking my brand new 4s caused the following "adverse" effects.

Phone icon on springboard turned pure white.
Dictation stopped working.
Siri stopped working.
Battery began drainning right before my eyes.
Apps like facebook, twitter, safari and my mail started to malfunction.

And at the Dev-team website even worse nightmares are being reported.

Then you should restore before jailbreaking. Like the Devs recommend you do. Like is said. User error.

Oh I did restore. From Apple. THrought itunes. Several times and always got the same results.

I now recoend that nobody use a jailbreak that is obviously poorly coded.

That is truly strange. I wouldn't recommend that no one jailbreaks because it didn't work for you.

And it's not portly coded, it's just hard to code.

Sounds like a USB problem, or you don't properly enter DFU mode. But idk. I have never heard of that. ........ever.

I have only ever had 3 problems from jailbreaking. all of which were easily resolved.

1) redsn0w just didn't work (This is always fixed by redownloading redsn0w from a different browser, or from a guest account on your computer.)

2) the jailbreak process stopping before the script (white terminal script on the screen during the jailbreak) which was just easily fixed by doing it over again.

3) lag problems from restoring to an iTunes backup before jailbreaking. Simply restore phone and setup as new device....never from backup. Of coarse that goes without even saying. Obviously one should setup as new device before jailbreaking.

Those are the only problems I Have ever had....and I haven't had those in a long time.

Did you use the right tool to jailbreak? Redsn0w version?

Using iPhone without jailbreak is no fun! Nothing can happen to my phone as long as its not physically broken. So the fact remains. It's always a user error. Read instructions and tutorials careful and be sure before trying anything if u are a newbie.

My iPhone is a 4S so I used Absinthe via the latest Greenpois0n. Had Cydia running every time the jailbreak completed. So putting the phone in DFU mode was not needed.

Been reading instructions over and over since it was released. And I didn't say nobody should jailbreak because it didn't work for me, I said a don't recommend it.

As far as being a nood at jailbreaking I have been doing it since the first iPhone was release so this ain't my first rodeo.

THe jail break is just imperfect and needs re working.

Read a few prblem reports yourself. Dev-Team Blog - Welcome new A5 jailbreakers!

Musclenerd needs to go back to hacker school.
