Voice / Data at the same time

I know Verizon 3G now has that ability, but it has to be supported in the chipset. Does the iPhone 4 for VZW support this? I'm assuming not, but wanted to make sure... the Thunderbolt does.

I'm about to take the Thunderbolt back and get an iPhone 4... debating VZW vs AT&T now... AT&T is good in my area... decisions decisions.

Yea, but is it good in every other area? I've had every provider in the past. I've been all over the states for different army training and such, and I'll tell you, VzW is the best coverage anywhere and everywhere. Just because AT&T bought T-Mobile doesn't mean they will get more service in other places, T-Mobile wasn't the greatest either... lol

the op asked if it does support voice/data not will it. it doesn't but like you said it may in the future. I always thought gsm only supported it

If the next iPhone supports the LTE 4g platform then it might in fact be able to do both at the same time.

I'm not sure if the LTE platform will support this or not. I don't remember for sure if I read that it did or not.

if lte does support it, I know a lot of people will be happy. I'm not concerned with it though. who knows if apple will jump the 4g way. they might wait for it to be stable.

Just like I know you can't use a VZW iPhone on AT&T. It's just not possible with the iPhones current chipsets. Could the next iPhone incorporate it? You betcha, it just won't happen this round. Its a hardware issue, not software. There's a limit to how "magical" the IP4 is.
