I tend to use the 'like[emoji106]' simply to acknowledge to the OP that I've seen the post. If have anything to say I'll probably use the 'quote prompt' and comment there. And yes, a dislike icon could spread bad vibes which really will never 'fix' a thing. Like bullets, or even words, bad vibes can't be turned around easily . Maybe that's why it's gone. (?)
