Hello climate change....

As a weather guru for the past 17 years and certified severe weather storm spotter (ID: 23732) I've noticed significant weather pattern changes over the past 17 years that have slowly taken place here in the USA. Storm systems used to be typically tied to the upper level jet stream, however in the past few years I've noticed many severe storm systems NOT associated to the upper level jet streams, but rather "cut off storm systems" not associated to normal jet stream systems. This used to happen a few times a year, but now are becoming more and more common. I've counted 10 just in 2017!!

The 51+ super computers used by NOAA & NWS spit out hourly forecasts for 1 hour to 7 day forecasts, and these computer runs are generating such different forecasts every hour for the 1hour to 7 day forecasts now. These super computers are getting more and more powerful every year, yet are having more and more difficult coming to a consensus in forecasts for storms and severe weather.

I recommend everyone have a way to receive severe weather alerts via push notifications for your local area on your iPhone. There are a few great apps for this. Not sure if I can recommend apps on this forum, so I'll keep quiet on my recommendations, unless a mod OK's it.

On a positive note, I've not noticed an increase on "positive" lightning strikes which can strike when the sky's are clear and sunny, but storms are 15 or more miles away.
