In my small town, I’m basically known as “the computer girl”. Therefore, if it involves some sort of technology, I’m the go-to-girl for a lot of people. I’m sure some of you out there know exactly what I’m talking about.

Anyway, my Uncle gave me a call over the weekend and was asking me what apps do I think would be good for his two little boys. Of course, I named a few off the top of my head like Tree World, Angry Birds, etc… I told him that if I could think of anymore that I would let him know. So, that’s the inspiration for this thread.

Let’s make a list of apps that would be good for children to have on their device. They don’t have to be educational apps, but that definitely helps, as I’m sure a lot of parents would really like that. Hopefully we can get a really good list going. Of course, I’ll be suggesting the apps listed here to my Uncle, so he can get them for my nephews. I’ll start:

Angry Birds

Is this still the most popular App on the App store? If it’s not, I’m sure nearly everyone has heard about it. It’s a very simple game, but it’s highly addictive and will keep children and adults alike entertained for hours. Basically, you use a slingshot to fling the angry birds at the green pigs and try your best to destroy them. It’s simple, family-friendly and enjoyable.

Tree World

This app was developed by the same people that made Zombie Farm and Zombie Life, but it is friendly for small children. Basically, you have a bunch of critters that hang out on a tree and you try your best to make the tree bigger. That way, the tree has more space, so you can acquire more pets for your tree.

It’s Me! Peter Pan

This game is a lot of fun for children, because they get to see themselves participating in the video game. Basically, you can use your picture and it will be placed on top of Peter Pan’s body. So, you can see why kids would love it. Plus, they will be accompanied by Tinker Bell, Wendy, John, Michael and they will also be able to do battle with Captain Hook.

Cut the Rope

Cut the Rope is a great app that will also challenge children. Basically, there is a piece of candy and you have to figure out how to get the candy to fall into the Om Nom’s mouth. Believe it or not, it’s a lot of fun and can definitely be challenging. My boyfriend’s nieces really get a kick out of this one.

CookieCoo Dancing Star

This app was actually just released and it says that it’s free for a limited time. I don’t know about that, but it’s definitely fun and education for kids. Children will be able to dance and sing along with the characters on the game. So, it will educate them and teach them rhythm, as well. Also, they get to choose between different instruments, so they will be able to recognize and identify the different sounds that instruments make.

Like I said, right now I’m just naming a few to get the ball rolling and show you what I’m trying to accomplish here. If you have any suggestions, please list them below. It doesn’t have to be anything special or even contain a description. Just please include the iTunes link so we know where to find them.

Also if you look on the Featured section on the app store and scroll to the bottom there is a link for kids apps and games for kids

I know right? haha. Cut the rope was a great game. I recommended it to my mom and she played though it like a storm

i hate it when i only get 2 stars... actually in any games.... like flow, angry birds, slice it... im not gonna move to the next round till i gt a perfect score... IMO, these apps are made for players to aim for the perfect score.... aight?

I think I have answered this one on another site. Cannot recall what site that is but I will give the same answer! I recommend the downloaded Bible stories for kids, Pic Say and Instagram to boost the kids' creativity. Jewels is fun too and ideal if the kid is learning the different kinds of colors. Hope this helps!

I've been seeing this post everywhere too... i guess the thread starter's trying to get more suggestions by posting it to different forums...
