Why is the iPhone 4's battery life so terrible?

My sister's iphone batter only lasted about 4 hours for the first two or three weeks.

As it broke in, i guess, it tripled active time.

Untill i upgraded my os from 4.2.6 to 4.2.8, i had great battery life.....

Same here. 4.2.6 was the best for me. These new updates are crap to me. I should've stayed 4.2.6.
