I know.. This has probably been Beat to death before!!
Again, I am browsing through here and always see th JAILBROKEN issue. People saying theirs are jail domestic... WHY/ WHAT would I gain? Is it just a geeky thing!? No offence intended... I just wonder WHAT I would gain? It seems there are PLENTY of apps out there as is.

Maybe it is just a geeky thing but some of the little things that I have enjoyed since I jailbroke mine have been setting my theme to something that I enjoy and something thats a little different. Also the ability to make a facetime call from work where wifi is non-existant just to say goodnight to my daughter has been the best reason for me to do it. Yes I had to pay 4 bucks for the my3g app but for the developer who figured it out they can have that 4 bucks if it allows me to say goodnight to my baby.

FaceTime without wifi... Interesting.... I too would think this feature alone may be worth it. I usually am wifi of away from home. Haven't looked into it yet, but I hear you can now Skype on phones by 3G too!

Not sure about the skype part. I dont use it personally but im sure someone else would chime in. If Im not mistaken you can facetime from older devices that didnt originally come with facetime. Im not sure about that tho.

The only problem that I have come across is that I have a semi tethered JB. If my device was to reset then I would still be able to use it as a phone and send text but would have to wait till I got to a PC to re-JB it. That is the only downfall that I have at the moment.

It just opens the phone up for more control over your device. You can theme, you can add features that Apple hasn't approved of. There is just so much to do while jailbroken. I partially gave up on jailbreaking (my iPad stays jailbroken, but my phone stays stock). The only problems @eddieg that comes from jailbreaking is 99.9% at the users end. Jailbreaking a device isn't mandatory but most iDevice users prefer it.

I can see why you leave the phone stock and it makes sense. One day when I get an iPad Im gonna jailbreak it and most likely return the phone to stock.

Plus one.

Dont forget all the FREE problems that come along with it!!!

Have you seen all the FREE problems posted in this forum and every single one in cyberspace on devices that are NOT JB?

JB problems rise from JB users who don't what they are doing, IMO, most of the time.

Just sayin'...

Anyone know the most common problems with JB? whether it be user or program?

And the worst case scenario of the JB?

I guess that's be me! ( that guy who doesn't know what they are doing...)

I didn't know what I was doing but I read up on it and watched a couple videos. Jailbreaking with redsn0w is really simple. I think the hardest part was getting the redsn0w software. After that the program does the rest really. Once the phone is hooked up and redsn0w is running it will tell you what to do to get the phone into DFU mode.

Would u mind sending me a few of the links u looked at if u can. I'm also trying to decide whether I want to jb or not.

I can't wait for a fully untethered jailbreak. I have always rooted my Android phones so I miss the flexibility.
