You can always tell that the release of a new iPhone is imminent when the carriers start reducing the prices of current iPhone models, so its no surprise to read on AppleInsider today that Best Buy has now permanently dropped the price of the iPhone 4 (8GB version) to $49.99 with a two-year contract. As AppleInsider notes, this is exactly half the regular $99 price that Best Buy has been charging for an iPhone 4 with a new two-year contract. The offer is good for both the GSM iPhone 4 that is compatible with AT&Ts network, as well as CDMA versions that are available on Sprint and Verizon. AppleInsider writes that this new lower price is the same price that Best Buy is currently asking for a refurbished iPhone 4. Both black and white models are available at the discounted price, which is most likely a permanent price and not a temporary offer.
