No, but now it's stuck in DFU, I can't go to settings and see what my base band is.
Never bothered to look before so I haven't a clue.
I will try the suggestions above ( iTunes exe, on different pc) later today, I'm at work for the next 8hrs.

Yes it was new when I got it ages ago. I did a jailbreak, and then upgraded by mistake, then did another jailbreak when it came out, I never really bothered with the detail such as baseband etc.
I now have a 4s, and I want to wipe the 3GS so the wife can use it.

Yes, that's correct.
It was somebody earlier who mentioned base band stuff.
I'm a novice, originally I used the jailbreakme.com,
Then when I accidentally upgraded, and used limerain. It's still jailbroken, just won't restore and stuck in DFU. I've tried tiny umbrella to kick it out of DFU, which didnt work, when I turn it off, and back on it goes into DFU on its own seconds after the apple logo appears.
