Hi - anyone experiencing odd behaviour when the iPhone 4s is in a case - using SIRI and some other apps. screen goes blank, SIRI voice goes quiet?

Thanks

What case are you using? The voice probably goes quieter because the case is slightly blocking the speaker and this muffling the sound. Not sure what could be messing up the screen though.

If you like the case your using, turn off "raise to speak" in the settings for siri and it will help. The problem is that the 4s proximity sensor was moved to left a little and it causes some cases that cover the sensor to make the phone think its next to your face. You can test this by activating Siri while not in its case and cover the top part of the phone and it will transfer the volume to the ear peace and will turn off the screen. Your case also will cause your screen to dim if you use auto brightness in the settings due to the covering of the sensor. I hope this helped.

Thanks for your response. The proximity sensor ref makes sense as the case - a leather Cygnett case does come over the top near the earpiece! I have changed the setting in Siri see what happens and let you know.

Right - this has been really helpful. It is the case/proximity sensor that is causing all my problems. The cut out for the earpiece is not big enough and must be covering the prox sensor. The prox sensor is actually really quite high. So a trip to the O2 shop Monday to look for an exchange as they assured me the case was no problem with the 4s!

Thanks for your help.
