Information systems engineer with Ph.D. in electrical/electronics engineering. Experience mostly Microsoft in closed environments. New to mobile smart device world. Recently acquired iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy 10.1 to get feet wet in both realms. Very concerned about device security.

As a CISSP, the answer is "all of the above." Android devices are a lot like Microsoft computers, in the sense that they have to be protected using similar tools. i-things are alleged to be very safe, but I don't think I really believe it. They are, after all, computers. In any case, I'm trying to find out all I can about i-thing security, to ensure I don't compromise client information or my own. I've read "Mobile Device Security for Dummies," which is pretty good, but not deep enough.

well i personally feel that the iphone is secure enough. having a antivirus or something of that sort will only slow down the phone. i do everything on my iphone 3 from online banking, to food ordering, online shopping and social networking. all of those require personal information and so far i have not been "hacked" or have gotten my information stolen. but then again on my computer i dont run any type of protector either. but my computer has been problem free since the day i built it. so that tells you about me. honestly you just have to know what you do. if you are the type that think the popup that says you won a prize is real, then well you will get infected and attacked. its all common sense really.
