I upgraded from an iphone 7 to 16 Pro. All information was transferred.
I only have two email accounts, Yahoo and Gmail.
It's the Yahoo account that is giving me problems. Not all mail gets through on my phone, maybe 25%. I have it set up in 'Mail' app and Yahoo apps. I have deleted the account from 'mail' and added it back in. Didn't help. All the Yahoo mail gets through on my desktop and my old phone. The emails that get through on my iphone 16 are duplicated in the mail and Yahoo apps.
Any help?
Thank you.

I think the problem may well be with Yahoo mail. Yahoo mail can be very laggy appearing in the Apple Mail App.

When I first noticed it on my desktop, there were several days wor4th of emails that didn't download to my phone.

FWIW I upgraded in Nov from an 8+ to a 16 Pro. And that’s when the trouble started. I have 2 emails, Yahoo as the Primary and Roadrunner. Never had an issue until then. After the switch, notification sounds for the Yahoo account stopped functioning. Apple shot me up the service ladder and a tech and I spent 5 days trying to make it work. It still does not. I gave up. I believe it is Yahoo not fixing its code to work in the native iPhone app. If you download the Yahoo Mail app, it works but then you have to check mail in two different spots. You have to choose your inconvenience. In addition, the way Apple fetches email has changed. Gmail and Yahoo are fetch accounts. It either has to be plugged in to a power source and on wifi or it only fetches to the schedule. Except Apple and I tested that, it doesn’t keep to the schedule and fetch until you turn the phone on to check. While I was working with Apple, my ipad would recieve emails as would my Mac. The iphone only periodically decides to do so. But my old Roadrunner account fetches as always. I really think its the big guys (relatively speaking) not wanting to play nice with each other. And the internet is full of siminlar issues reported by some with Gmail. HTH
