Is there an app that provides different icon options?

Not that I know of. Maybe if your jailbroken tho. i have wondered this myself, and you reminded me to look into

If you are taking about app's that'll let you modify Safari bookmarks (so you can use your own images as icons), or create shortcuts for people you frequently call (you can use their picture as an icon), then yes, there are apps that'll do that.

I use the app Touch Icon Creator ($.99, USD). I use it to use a web site logo as the icon when I make a Safari bookmark. There are other apps that do this, but I don't remember their names off the top of my head.

Thanks guys.. It's just so bizarre, though. I had a Droid for the longest time, and there were countless icon skins / symbols apps available. You could change anything.. To anything. Don't get me wrong, I love my iPad and iPhone, but come on Apple...

Android allows users to customize pretty much anything out of the box. Any application you install can tie into the core functionality of the phones system.

Apple does not do this. Apple has restriction for app store apps...they are not allowed to tie into the phones code and modify already existing functionalities.

This is what makes iOS more secure then Android. Apple will not change this simply so they can in fact say that there mobile OS is more secure then the rest...and it is.

You can modify anything you want on iPhones too ...but only if you jailbreak it.

Once Cydia is installed you can bypass pretty much any restriction that Apple has in the device.

Yes i think Infinidock is the apps that gives you to make more icons at the dock. It helps you to add more than 4 icons and switch them to 5 screens.

You can add as many icons as you want. You can add up to 10 icons on one dock page.

I only have 2 pages of dock icons with 5 icons on each page. Plus I have a cool "cover flow" effect that looks pretty sweet when I scroll through my dock

Just Apple typically 'sandboxing'
