concealing/making private notifications?

On Android, there are dozens of apps that modify your text message and email notifications so they read "Text Message" instead of "Text Message from Susan Hotlips." Other than re-naming everyone in my address book to "anonymous," are there any options for this? I don't want someone seeing potentially private information on my screen, especially with the new "shows notifications when locked" functionality.

I would recommend turning off the show notification while locked then. And to answer your much broader question, no you can't. Apple doesn't allow applications to modify things like Android.
