Encrypted Backups

I lost my password for encrypted backup. I know i have to restore my iPhone as "New" if I want to get rid of the password, so my question is: if I restore as New phone, will I loose anything when I do my first Sync. Such as contacts, SMS msgs, etc?

Yes you will. You can try manually backing up your data/media, restore as a new phone, and manually drag and drop everything back in

Check out iExplorer. It'll create a backup of your device that should be independent of iTunes' backup encryption. Then open up that backup, and navigate to the directories.

Or, simple plug in your phone, run iExplorer, and on the main load up page, click on the different categories and extract them to a desktop folder.

The first is from a backup, the second is directly from the device
