Greenpois0n 4.2.1 un tethered jailbreak for windows users

After putting my phone in DFU mode and I click "Jailbreak!" button it seems like greenposion just freezes up and the progress bar isnt moving at all. Any suggestions?

Rebooted (disconnected from PC), and came back from the dark side without any issues. Kept all my settings and applications loaded!

When I did mine I didn't put my phone in DFU mode prior to jailbreaking. I plugged my phone it to computer. Opened GP then followed instructions. All the tutorials say put in DFU mode before opening GP but I've done 2 iPhone 4's now same way and it worked flawless.

That was my question, do I have to put the phone in DFU mode before using greenpoison or do I just power it off and then follow the prompts??

I'm a newbie coming from a Droid X that I rooted so this is all new to me.

If something goes wrong and I brick, how do I recover??

I just plugged the phone to the PC, shut the phone down, open the wizard, and went from there.... 2 minutes later, I was jailbroken

As long as you can follow directions. The first time I started out with the phone powered on and I ended up having to restore before trying again oops!

hi i downloaded the jailbreak tonight,it worked very well first time.I am new to an iphone only got it November last year and was not sure about jailbreaking it. Will See how it goes if not i can always restore it back.

Basic question my iphone4 is on version 4.0.2 (8A400) and firmware 01.59.00 and was jailbroken and unlocked to free it from AT. I want to up grade to 4.2.1. Question do I need to save SHSH: iOS 4.1, 4.2.1,4.2b3 is saved in cydia.

I just want to know when I carry out the new jailbreak will I have to do anything special to save base band 01.59.00 or will the jailbreak look after this? As I need the unlock to work as I live in Australia

I don't get what winterboard does, everything I check on it I don't see a difference once it restarts.

you will have to wait there is no way you can unlock that baseband atm you need to be on baseband 01.59 in order for it to be un lockable. (and you cant downgrade baseband)

so you wait for a new unlock tool for that baseband and for future upgrades you can use pwnage tool to stop the baseband from upgrading and keeping your unlock or using TinyUmbrella when 4.3 is released and you can unlock the baseband your on.

So I should just wait until the unlock is out before using greenpoison?

wel it doesent matter if you do or not it wont harm your iphone or make it impossible to unlock infact you will be able to use your iphone as an ipod touch until there in an unlock tool for that baseband

Thanks paliometoxo, I just jailbroke my iPhone 4 running ver. 4.2.1, baseband 3.10.01, downloaded all the apps you recommended, though the CyDelete said something like "hash sum mismatch" when I tried downloading it, any ideas?

no worries!

im guessing cydelete hasent been ported to 4.2.1 yet, maybe some one else can confirm.. it makes deleting the cydia apps much easier, the same as deleting the app store ones wit the cross on the top left

That's weird.... after successfully jailbreaking my already broken (redsn0w) iphone with this new untethered version, I proceeded to jailbreak my co-worker's virgin clean 4.2.1 iPhone.... - no luck.

I'd go through the steps, put the thing in DFU mode, click on 'Jailbreak'... it'd run through the jailbreaking process, the green bar would run across all the way to the end, but then read - 'Jailbreak Failed '.... - I don't understand.... this is a new, stock 4.2.1 phone, and it just won't jailbreak....


...any ideas?

My friend has just tried to jailbreak his iPhone 3GS with the new Greenposi0n for windows. Followed all instructions to the letter and it fails everytime. He has tethered 4.2.1 redsn0w done on it same as I did but my ip4 went flawless and his fails everytime. Has anyone else had this problem?
