how to make my iphone sim free\unlocked

Hi
I have iphone 4 gsm with ios 6.0.1 and the iPhone is locked for others networks
And I want to make it Unlocked.
How do I do this?
Maybe I need to downgrade from ios 6.0.1 to 4.2 and buy devay sim?
Is this possible?
I'd be grateful for anyone who can help.

If your iPhone 4 was updated to iOS 6.0.1 w/o preserving a lowering Baseband... downgrading will not have an effect on your Unlockability. If that's the case you have two options... request an Unlock from the wireless provider (your only legal option in the US) it's locked to or you'll need to purchase an IEMI Unlock (only legal outside of the US) from somewhere online. The latter, purchasing an IEMI Unlock, is not supported by iPhone Forums. So, discussion of how, where, and why will not take place. Thanks!
