How to store own ringtones on iphone 4

I created a ringtone with "Ringtone Designer" directly on the iphone. Following the instructions of the program I synchronized with iTunes to get it on my PC. Again following the instructions I had again to synchronize. iTunes tried to copy the new ringtone on the iPhone 4 but an error message like "copying to the volume xyz failed. an unknown error occured (-54)."

Does anybody know what it means?

How can I copy any self created ringtone to the iPhone 4 so that the device will recognize the ringtone correctly?

You should Copy using iTunes
Put your Ringtones into iTunes and sync it
