iMessage issue

Hoping someone can help. I have one friend whose phone number will show instead of name when he messages me. It only does this on the phone. All of his information is in contacts. iMessage on the iMac shows his name for the same thread. I have tried everything and researched and researched to no avail.

Any ideas how to get it to show up as his name on my iPhone? Thanks in advance.

In your contacts on your phone. How does it look there? It has to look the same there for it to come up properly. I don't know anything about iMessage is I never used that but check your contacts on the phone just to make sure.
