MacStories rounds up some fresh iPhone 5 rumours today coming from Digitimes and Apple Daily, which say that next iPhone will be released in Q2 of 2011, and will be powered by a new A8 processor. The iPhone 4 and the iPad are both powered by the Apple A4 processor, which comprises an ARM Cortex-A8 CPU and a GPU. It is not yet known if the new A8 processor will be an upgrade of the Cortex-A8, or a new Apple version, possibly even a move to dual core, such as two Apple A4s together. MacStories notes that putting a dual-core processor in the iPhone 5 would ensure that Apple keeps pace with the Androids Tegra2. According to the DigiTimes story, Kinsus will be responsible for supplying the A8 chip, and Qualcomm will be making the baseband chips. As ever, no one is making any official comment on these rumours at present. Let the feverish speculation begin, if it ever stopped!
