AppleInsider has word today of a new report from Gartner which reveals worldwide mobile device sales in Q3 2012. According to Gartners figures, the iPhones share of the market has grown from 3.9% in the year-ago quarter, to 5.5% in the current quarter. In total, Apple sold 23.5 million iPhones, with that total composed entirely of smartphones of course, unlike the likes of Nokia and Samsung, whose tally of phones sold included feature phones, which Apple does not sell. Selling feature phones, which are cheaper, and therefore do not generate as much profit for the companies in question, Samsung and Nokia are still able to commandeer the two top spots in the worldwide mobile device sales chart for Q3, with Apple in third place. Samsungs market share has continued to grow, unlike Nokias share, which has decreased slightly. Gartner says that nearly 428 million mobile phones were sold in the third quarter of 2012.
