I am jail broken on my 4s and I just loaded tetherme and it works great!!!

Love it.

I am a overwhelmed with the amount of stuff I have available now. Crazy

What are a few things I should start with. I love playing with seri. Any upgrades
I can play with there worth while?

What are some of the most popular things people do after a jailbreak

Be careful with tetherme some carriers will punish its users for using it, Jailbreak Applications & Tweaks

How could they tell if I am using it..through the app to by the usage? I have unlimited data plan from years ago. My use will be very limited to when my iPad needs a signal and no movie or big down loads just looking things up and what not..

Thanks for the info. I am looking things over. I get distracted as I start reding about something then someone mentions something else that brings me in that direction. lol

When I first jail broke my device I used YouTube to look at apps and tweaks. Try "top cydia tweaks" "top cydia themes" ect.

You won't have any issues with TetherMe, especially if you tether in small amounts. MyWi is the 3rd party tethering app that you need to steer clear of. I use tetherme at school in between classes to stream videos and movies and I've never had an issue.

Yeah. How can your carrier tell the diff between usage on TetherMe and MyWifi? Surely date transfer is data transfer. They have to be blind to apps.

There are 2 different types of usage stats. Tethering and cellular data. You can see this in Setting> General> Usage.

However I know that TetherMe bypasses the tethering detection so the phone only recognizes the data usage as regular cellular data usage instead of tethering data usage. MyWi......I'm not sure, I always use TetherMe.....it's cheaper.lol, and allows you to use the native tethering options in Settings instead of using a 3rd party app like MyWi does.

MyWi uses a 3rd party application to enable tethering which makes it easily detectable. TetherMe simply enables native hotspot settings, so there is no way for the cell company to tell if you are tethering or if you are just streaming/downloading directly to your phone.

But why would there be a stat for tethering usage apart from regular data usage? I think when tethering is enabled from the carrier, that tethering usage is monitored via that usage stat. Idk....I don't have tethering on my plan.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with the data usage, it has to do with the fact that MyWi uses a 3rd party tethering app to enable tethering. The cell companies can see that the data is being transferred through the MyWi application and they can then remove your unlimited plan and start charging you for tethering.

Then why is MyWifi a featured Cydia App and way more popular than TetherMe if it carries so much risk. That's not like Cydia. Not disagreeing with you - just perplexed.
