Alright,
So I've an iPhone 4 geuvey sim unlocked running on 4.3.5.
I just got the news that un-tethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 is out.

If I upgrade from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1 and try jailbreaking it through RedSnow.
Will it work?
I mean will the phone still remain unlocked via guevy sim or is there any issue to it?

You need to restore a custom 5.0.1 firmware with sn0wbreeze, redsn0w or pwnage tool, then you can jailbreak.
 
No. You need to make a CUSTOM firmware with sn0wbreeze, redsn0w or pwnage tool and restore that. If you restore a factory 5.0.1 firmware you will update your baseband and you will not be able to unlock.
 
I made a custom firmware via red-snow
Restored it via iTunes

Bade band didn't change:
Thankfully.

But, after getting restored the phone wasn't getting activated cause of gevey sim.
I kept thinking of different things cause the activation screen just wouldn't go away.

Then, I finally thought let's just jailbreak it.
So, I did and it worked.
Was able to bypass the activation mode and all.

Now, everything is working except I'm not able to use my gevey sim. When I put it in it shows me the accept and cancel icon tells me to dial 112 and hang up all those thing.
I follow step by step
But, nothing.
No signal bar nothing.
I would really appreciate if you could help me out here.

I was wondering whether there is any other alternative way out there?
Instead of using/unlocking it with gevey sim?
