My in-car stereo has Bluetooth, I know I can use the telephone through it. Can I also use Bluetooth to play music from the iPod part of the iPhone through the stereo or is Bluetooth just for telephone calls?

If its an aftermarket unit you can. Most OEM units only play what ever is STORED in the radios memory. I have a Pioneer BT head unit and i usually use the dock cable for iPod control. I use it via BT when i use the Voice Control function on the phone to play a certain song, artist to keep from scrolling on and on to fine it via the cable. you can listen to some apps via BT also, i.e. radio station apps.
