You can't re-install iOS 8.4.1 onto your iPhone as it's no longer being signed by Apple.

8.4.1 installed. There's no full functioning jailbreak for that software,

You can't install the original firmware, you can only install the latest firmware; iOS 9.2.1 at the moment.

All you have to do is is go to Settings>General>Software Update and the update will be there ready for downloading OTA. If you want to update through iTunes, use the update button on the summary page when your iPhone is connected to iTunes.
I'm trying to update a friend's GrandFather's 4S that is still on 7.1.1. When I try updating I'm getting error 9006 so I thought I would try DFU mode to install the update. He's trying to install apps but they won't install because of the older iOS version on the device.
I found the ipsw late last night so I'm going to try upgrading it this afternoon.

Before trying the update did you turn off or disable any anti-virus and security software? Error 9006 relates to security issues on your computer and you can get this error when updating if your firewall and anti-virus are blocking the connection to the Apple servers.
