While it looks nice right now, the bench is made of teak, which doesn't like being painted. By next summer a large part of this design will have flaked off.

Teak is an oily tropical hardwood and it is that oil content that makes it almost impossible for paint to properly adhere to the surface. The oil content does make it very rot resistant which is why it was extensively used for decking on ships, which were never painted. Even in the earlier days of iron and steel ships, teak was used as a decking material.
