Ringtones

i go to mobile9 on my computer, there are lots of free ringtones that are easy to send to iTunes, once in your phone you can use them for anything.

Yeah, about the iTunes thing..... I would hope that there would be Some Way to download ring-tones directly to the iPhone without having to use the dreaded iTunes. Too much to ask for, huh. I believe the Androids do that.....

There isn't. And I wouldn't mention Android as a beacon of good software design because it can do something that the iPhone can't. Simply put the Android OS has a timeout in retrieving Ringtones that are placed on the SD card by the user. Which means if the phone is "too busy" processing some other event, the Android OS has to default to a preloaded ringtone. To help overcome this, Android OS added a PRE-RING timer that kicks off before the timeout timer starts that allows for X milliseconds delay before the phone starts ringing at all in hopes of being able to load the ringtone from the SD card.

When an OS needs TWO timers to try and help it play a user ringtone, you might want to question the OSes stability and reliability.

G'day & welcome to the FoRuM!!!! :)

What's the best sources for free ringtones??

I would also love to know more sites for free ringtones.

There are 2 that I use with my 4S with good results (1 free):

Ringtonesia Ringtone Maker for iPhone (you choose model). This one is free. It is made by Red Kawa, which also makes a Youtube video download software, and Videora, which is an iPhone/iPod/iPad/Touch video file converter. The format is the same for all 3 converters.
Ringtonesia allows you to take any song on your computer, edit any part of the song from 5-40 seconds, including fade in and fade out of ringtone. Edit the tone, drop it into your iTunes library, then drag it from iTunes library into the device. Then look in "Tones" on your computer iTunes, or in General>Sounds>Ringtones on the iPhone.

iSkysoft iPhone Ringtone Maker - $19.00, which does the same thing, but costs $.
