Yeah I know, I've been told I'm too wordy in today's world of 140 characters.

In September I bought a new Motorola Razr 2024 folding phone on a payment plan and transferred all my info/data from my old iPhone XR and have been trying to get along with my new Razr phone. Now I want to get out of my Razr as it's got a few issues that either Boost Mobile causes and or some other issues that Google's Android 14 causes with a folding phone but which didn't exist on my iPhone XR.

I loved my old iPhone XR and if I switch I'll be switching back to my old iPhone XR which obviously means a 5 or 6 year old CPU, battery, hardware etc.

The pros and cons as I see them:

  1. The small folded form factor of my Razr sits deep in my pocket and doesn't fall out vs my XR sometimes falling out of pocket when getting out of a car etc. and my Android when unfolded is slightly larger than my XR 6.1 XR vs 6.9 Razr.
  2. 256 GB storage vs my XR's 64 GB
  3. Apples tight ecosystem that won't allow my carrier to screw with normal functions of my iPhone vs Androids allowing my carrier to disable features so they can charge extra for the feature.
  4. My Android is new vs my iPhone of 5 or 6 years
  5. Battery: Razr is new vs iPhone being 5 to 6 years old at 87% health.
  6. When folded (which is about 90% of the time), Androids Assistant will not work (see #7 below), it will tell me to unfold my phone to function, XR doesn't fold so not an issue
  7. Siri works perfectly with the screen off, but Androids Gemini won't do anything unless I turn on the screen, so I can just talk, hey Siri, set timer, or text someone etc but Android Assistant wont work with a folded phone and Androids Gemini won't work unless I wake the phone first.
  8. Both the XR and the new Razr are in pristine visual condition so that is not a concern, neither has even a scratch on them.
  9. Androids 2 cameras, 50 MP and 13MP rear cameras and 32MP front camera on the Razr vs the XR's 12MP rear camera and 7MP front facing camera
  10. I'm diabetic and both my glucose reader app and my insulin pump app can now run on my XR but on the Android only the glucose reader app works so I have to carry another phone that is locked down to just run the insulin pump app, AND on the Android there is no app for the glucose reader to run on a Razr and have to use a custom built app by a 3rd party, so not always updated as quick as the native app.
  11. The Android keyboard has an editor that when I tap it, it allows me to move the cursor around in a document by tapping keys to get precise placement of my cursor and do other assorted functions vs me fumbling using my finger to move the cursor around on my iPhone when using the keyboard.
I just can't make up my mind, I love the apple ecosystem with regards to my phone, airpods etc but I like the Android and how I can customize the way it looks.

I know that ultimately it's my decision but I'm looking I guess to be shoved in one direction or the other.

Anybody struggled with this kind of decision before and what was your outcome, did you go to a new android but then go back to an older iPhone?

Thanks

That's a tough situation for sure. If I were you, not really happy with a new Android but not wanting to look back, I might try to see if you could switch carriers and trade in your phone to get like a free iPhone 16 or something along those lines. I've used an iPhone since the iPhone 4, and I switched to the iPhone because I was not happy with my HTC One X all the way back in 2013.
