Traveling to Australia/NZ with Unlocked 3G

Hi; I am traveling to Australia & New Zealand from the US this spring, 1 week in each country and I have an unlocked iPhone 3G. What local telecoms/sim vendors do you recommend and why.

Prepay Telstra as best coverage one month is about $30 for Australia. Unsure about NZ
