I went to update to 7.1.2 today and it's been 3 1/2 hours seems too long. It's got the iTunes icon and shows to plug it in, plug it in to the computer or the wall? so can this be stopped?

I did some looking and found this. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
It seems to offer a solution to your problem. I hope you get your update sorted out quiclpkly as iOS 8, the newest version of iOS is being released in a few hours.
