When was this feature added?

I've done some more reading and it appears as if these features for mail and messages are only availible on the iPhone 6 Plus.

I just found this from Apple - iPhone 6 - Display

"To make the most of the even larger display on iPhone 6 Plus, many built-in apps — like Mail, Calendar, and Stocks — have been redesigned to help you be more productive. Simply switch from portrait to landscape to see some of your favorite apps take on a whole new dimension."

According to the pictures at the above URL, the side-by-side view is only seen on the 6 Plus.

That's strange, Ard says he has a 6 and it works for him. We need someone else with an iPhone 6 to try this and see what happens.
