What would happen to my iPhone if I used the blobs off another iPhone to downgrade my iPhone ? Would I ruin my phone or has anybody tried this ?

Using SHSH's from another iDevice isn't possible. They're device specific and cannot be used for other devices.

So it is tied into the hardware as well as the software. That sucks.

Exactly... that's why it's inifinately important for iOS users to use TinyUmbrella to save SHSH's while signing windows are open w/ Apple. Even if you're not into Jailbreaking... you never know when the need for downgrading will come about.

Legally, Apple should be forced to let people downgrade again because of this Maps issue. It's basically breaking the contract you signed when you bought the device, as you're no longer getting the functionality that you paid for.

Have you tried emailing apple customer service to see if they will let you downgrade? If not I'm going to try and call them now and see if I get laughed at.

Jail Broke iOS 6.

It's no different to a normal warranty issue, when you think about it. Apple would have you think otherwise, but it's true. You buy a stereo, and the volume button breaks. It gets repaired under warranty to work as before. You buy a phone with maps, and then maps no longer work? Same deal.

Taking kids to school then calling will let you know what they tell me.

I know they're just going to laugh it off, but seriously, once a sold item doesn't perform as advertised... you know.

Lets have a look at the Apple Maps that don't work?

Yup. That's where I am.

Ooh, look. That looks vaguely familiar.

Well, what do you know. Looks like I won't get lost this morning.

After talking to this apple asshole I don't think I will get another iPhone after mine dies.

He said that apple was not in breach of any warranty or service. There is no problem with iOS 6 and I could be considered in breach of the warranty because my phone had 5.1.1 when I got it and by upgrading I altered the software because the upgrades are optional not mandatory.

That's the short version of my conversation.

lol. You went ahead and did it? Neat.

He must have been drunk or something. Updating iOS voids warranty? Which planet does he live on?

Yea idk I am going to try latter and hope I don't get an asshole again.

Somehow, I don't think he was quoting from an Apple manual.

KevinJS, that's great that it works for you, but my iPhone 4S with the new maps doesn't even let me plan a route from my home. It has me starting off in the middle of nowhere; ie. the blue route line starts on a road that I'm not even on. I'm just supposed to work out how to get to that road? The old maps didn't do that.
