Well knock on wood, the update is working for me. I hit a milestone today. 6 hours 46 min of use and 43 hours standby. ;)

Can't say, the first one was before the update came out. I could hardly hit 3.5hrs. The second one wouldn't pull any emails and I didn't have time to fully test it although it was better with the update. My battery seems to be progressively getting better, but it could just be my perception. I would be fine with 6.5hrs use and 24+ hrs standby. So I can't conclusively say whether swapping out helped.

Well with this one I'm to plain iOS 5.0. I may wait for the next update before I update again if the battery functions well.

Wondering if it's normal when I am at home and I have my iPhone 4s on wifi. When it is sitting on sleep mode, and I turn it on. I notice it is on 3G for a second then switches to wifi. When it sleeps does it switch it self back to 3G? Just wondering if that could cause battery drain. I find I have good standby but it drains pretty hard and fast while in use. And i have Everything off cause when I didn't I had bad standby use. Just waiting for a proper update.

Ok so I have a question for you guys.

I'm going to the Apple store tomorrow to (hopefully) have them replace my iPhone 4s. Will they do this? I don't have Apple care but I need this battery issue fixed. I mean we're talking 8 hours combined (Standby + usage) and it's dead. And that's including roughly 6.5 of those 8 hours in standby.

This has to be fixed. I shouldn't owe them any money should I? This is a defect in their product, not something that I did to the phone.

Any advice helps!

No, you shouldn't be charged. I wasn't, they are aware of the battery issues. They take your phone and run a diagnostic on it and may change it then, or recommend you reset the phone and restore it as a new phone. This means that you will lose all your data. You will have to manually re-download all your apps.

Yes thats normal.

If Apple is aware of the issue, they should do something about it, or we should all return our phones.

This is also a very bad advertisement for a new potential buyers of the 4S.

Here is my update. Only listened to music. And light intenet browsing. No game play.
