help charging my iphone 3g

hello have a used iphone 3g and an old cellphone charger the charger wall plug is from a zte cellphone and heres the charger specs input 100*240V~50/60hz 250mA output=5.0V 1000mA will this thing charge my iphone 3g batter or damage it im not able to charge viz my laptop so will the zte charger work?
