Hello, I'm pretty sure I have the same problem as everyone else here. I updated my iPhone 4's iOS to the iOS 5 yesterday through iTunes; I have the recent version of iTunes which is 10.5. I cannot use my phone as it has Gevey sim card and I'm with T-Mobile so I've been trying everything to revert it (even the methods that have been said here) but no progress has been made. Any solutions?

What do you mean by no progress? Any error messages? How far along do you get before something goes wrong? How do you know something has gone wrong?

More details. Any details would help.

By the way, it's entirely possible that the window has closed, although I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get past the "verifying with apple" stage. Did you? Can anyone confirm Apple has stopped signing? Anybody have any success with this, and if so at what time?

What time did you first try this? Include your time zone so I can compare it to 10:30am PST, when it worked for me. I'm at my computer right now to try and help you with this but I'm going to bail pretty soon if I don't hear back from either of you - just FYI.

BTW are you mac or PC? Also, you never explained what you meant by "it didn't restore from the 4.3.5 on my desktop" Did do a standard restore instead of option or shift restore? And how do you know it was using a different 4.3.5 file? If you already had 4.3.5 on your computer why did you also have it on your desktop? Is there some part of all this that you haven't explained, like you tried pwning the 4.3.5 file first or something? I only just figured this thing out this morning - I"m no expert on this. But if you've forgotten some detail then I definitely can't help you.

In the meantime I've looked up error 1600, actually error 16xx. It happens when you're not in DFU mode but you do something assuming you are. That makes sense, right? Is there a chance you've been going in to recover mode instead? How did you get into what you thought was DFU? Like what buttons did you press, etc?

I'll just repeat my description again. Here's how to get into DFU mode. Remember redsn0w can walk you through this and tell you when you have it right. But....

hold down both keys. When the apple comes up count 3 seconds and then release the power button and keep pressing the home button. It takes maybe another 5 seconds, the screen will stay black, but you'll be in DFU. As I said, use redsn0w to verify this if you're not sure. but if you have a black screen and Itunes is saying you need to restore then you're golden.

I think I may have messaged you. I'm not sure but to cut it short:
I have Windows 7 so I'm a PC and by no progress, I mean as in no changes have been made since it updated to iOS5. I keep getting invalid sim whenever I do shift+restore on 4.3.5 while it was in DFU mode and I live in Los Angeles (Pacific Time Zone) Sorry for the late reply, I have been away from the computer

Alright gents. You snooze you lose. Laters.
I'm probably just gonna look for another 4 that has the correct firmware/baseband that is compatible with T-Mobile but thank you for the help! I appreciate it.

Nope, not me. I don't know how things work with the gevey SIM - I don't have one, and this thread isn't about how to downgrade while using one. It kind of seems like it would be a factor, though, don't you think? Did you just go ahead and try it or had you looked into whether or not it would work first?

It seems like the thing to do, because you know it's possible, is go back to iOS 5. Whatever you did last time, when you first upgraded, just do it again. Whatever's gone wrong in the interim will presumably be fixed, and then you can start again with a clean slate and just hope they haven't closed the door yet. Any ideas what you might have done wrong, if anything, to get where you are now? I've been talking to that other dude but I don't think we were talking, were we?

I'm pretty sure what I did wrong was by restoring and updating through iTunes. I've figured out, so far, that there is nothing I can do until an update has been released or so. So, as of now, I'm gonna resort to selling it to my friend and acquiring a new one.

Do you have another SIM that's legit that you can try this with? Just a guess but that might work. But what you've already done might have messed things up so even if it didn't work it might be fine if you just go back to 5 like I suggested.

I don't have another SIM card. My friend and I have come to a conclusion that I updated the baseband so it'll be hard to revert back. I've decided to sell my current 4 to him and find a new one.

My tiny umbrellas TSS server is not running.. what does that mean? I dont have any files saved also.
Can u send me the correct link from where i can download tiny umbrella. I dont have any saved SLSH o watever files..

You can't find download link for tiny umbrella? Honestly if you can't find that there's no way you're going to be able to follow the simple instructions in the first post and accomplish this. But if you need to know about Tiny Umbrella you can use a search engine to find the site run by the guy who wrote it. Just google "search engine."

Well, I updated my baseband and downgraded it today with no problem. But I'm on at&t. It may be that this just can't work if you don't have the expected SIM. I don't know I would have tried something that you know is going to phone home to apple in order to work if the phone is going to look fishy in any way. But I think you can temporarily use any at&t sim - just pop it out of someone else's phone for a sec and try. You don't know anybody with a legit at&t phone?

Sorry, I just hate giving up on **** like this, at least when it's my phone. Which it's not. Good luck.

No, and I don't think they'll be able to lend me one since I'd have to cut their sim card for it to fit the gevey. It'd work fine if I was AT&T but I'm not, unfortunately :\

Lol it's alright. My friend and I have been working at it for the past 36 hours or so.
