New to iphone

@YankInDaSouth

So far I'm liking it a lot. The phone is very fast and responsive. There are some things I miss about my previous phones, (Both android and windows) but overall I am happier with the iphone.

With android I had a lot of glitches and it seemed like with every glitch they fixed in an OS release, they created two more. Some of them were pretty game breaking, such as the alarm not going off on random mornings, and randomly having the battery drain 10x faster than normal until you reboot. Windows was great from an OS perspective, there just wasn't enough high end developers active in the ecosystem.

With iphone the OS is great (Though lacking some customizations that other phones have) and the ecosystem is top notch. Oh, and one thing I LOVE about this phone is the stereo sound! I can play a game or movie without headphones and it sounds great! (Guessing this is exclusive to the + version, but I haven't researched other IOS devices much)

Change the banner to an alert in Settings/Notifications. That way it will stay on the screen until you dismiss it.

Nice! I did not understand how this panel worked fully, now I see I can put stuff on the lock screen, make it stay on the screen until I acknowledge it, etc.

Yes, stereo speakers are exclusive to the 7 Plus, but all iPhones give stereo sound through headphones.

I'm not much of a headphone person, so it was a very nice surprise for me to see such great sound come out of the built in speakers. Honestly, most phones I've owned still had the headphones in the factory sealed bag when it came time to sell them. I have not used the iphone headset yet.

Same here. I have yet to find a pair of headphones that can reproduce the soundstage of speakers. I'm hoping the AirPods will break that mould.

I was playing with a 7 Plus in the West Edmonton Mall Apple Store this week and was surprised at the volume level. It will probably still not be loud enough to seriously compete with my truck engine but most people should find it loud enough. Clarity seems to be up there too.

The 7 has stereo speakers also [emoji6][emoji1360]

Good deal! I too am enjoying the switch ... there are things I miss, especially seeing how I spent the last 7 +/- years exclusively on Android, but for the most part the transition is far easier than I anticipated.

Man, love learning new things LOL You may or may not know, but a quick double swipe down on the home button shrinks/drops the app down - I assume this is so you don't have to try and dislocate your thumb trying to go back within certain apps. Really handy once you get used the gesture! Keeps from shuffling the phone around when trying to one-hand it.

You can close apps from that display. Just swipe up on them and they are gone. Handy for closing apps down that are using GPS and running your battery down.

I think you mean the multi tasking view (double tap of home button). I'm talking about the one where you double swipe down and it shrinks the screen like this:

Ah, that's a new one on me. Obviously not available on my poor old 5s.

It allows you to reach apps and other content at the top of the screen when using the iPhone in one hand.

That's Reachability. It came with the 6 and 6 Plus.

I'm beginning to feel quite left out. I may have to attempt to accelerate 7 Plus time.
