New to iphone

Reachability another new/old system might be good for the Apple gear-change system on i45

I have been on the IPhone a week and I tell ya... I do miss my Galaxy.... I miss the notification light on the front, the ease of arranging icons anywhere on the screen and the camera where you could tap on the screen. My hand is small so I seem to not able to reach the shutter button. When I use the volume buttons, my finger gets in the way of the camera. I looked to see if there was a way to move the shutter button up but didn't see a way. I love the battery life and the fast response on the IPhone.... The LED light is awesome but if I am away from my phone... I don't know I have a message unless I pick up the phone. I am still 50/50... Gotta get used to it... but it is hard considering I have been android since the original Droid.

I'm in the "Settings" I don't see it.

TIA!

It's in the second group. You change sounds, banners and alerts on a per-app basis from there.

When I am on a call and a text comes in i hear the tone, anyway to shut that off?

Question regarding contacts ... I had my contacts ported over from my Gmail account, but seeing EVERY contact in the contacts app on my phone (even those without phone numbers) was driving me crazy. So I went to iCloud on the PC and made two groups and now I'm only syncing contacts from those two iCloud groups. Question is, when adding a contact on the phone via the app, how do I select which group to assigned the contact to? Seems to be defaulting to one particular group and I don't see how to make it so I have the option to select which group to assign it to.

Hope that makes sense LOL

Just checked this out. It looks like you deselect all other groups then add a contact. That contact will appear in the group that was left selected.

The default appears (at least on my phone) to be "All iCloud"

Was just coming back to post just this info ... figured it out right after I posted.

Just opposite of how I had to do it on Android, there the group is selected while adding the contact. Just have to retrain myself to do that before hand [emoji16]

Thanks for such a quick reply @KevinJS

If you need a different default account for your contacts, go to Settings - Contacts - Default account, and select the one you'd like to use as default.
Mine is Gmail, btw.

I actually stopped syncing contacts from all other sources due to the various "contacts" showing up from my Gmail account. Seeing the email address of EVERY person I've sent email to was driving me nuts LOL

Only concern I have is if I switch back to Android any contacts I've added won't be linked to my Gmail account and if I add a contact on the PC from my work exchange account it won't be synced to my iPhone. I'm sure there's a way around both of these, but I'm a noob LOL

You can close apps from that display. Just swipe up on them and they are gone. Handy for closing apps down that are using GPS and running your battery down.

Closing your apps that way actually causes more drain on your battery because it takes more resources when you open the app. If you don't want an app to use location, then toggle it off in Settings > privacy > location services. The only time I close an app in multitasking, is if an app misbehaves. Otherwise, I leave them be.

My Gmail contacts only show those people I have added. It doesn't show every person I have emailed. Try going to your Gmail contacts online and adding or deleting people as you prefer. Then in the future when you sync your Gmail contacts, you'll get those you want.

It's easy to get your contacts to Gmail. You can do this via iCloud (online - export them to Gmail as vCard), or use an app.

Yeah, I may have to tackle this from the Gmail Contacts web page ... I have no idea why it is saving anyone I email as a "contact".

I used the Move to iOS app on initial setup ... wondering if that was a good idea. I usually like to start fresh with new phones. Should have stuck to my guns this time especially since I changes OS too! Contemplating wiping the phone and starting over :) Now that I have some kind of clue as to what I am doing it may not be a bad idea ;)
