New to iphone

AH HA!! Found this setting on Gmail:

Create contacts for auto-complete:
  • When I send a message to a new person, add them to Other Contacts so that I can auto-complete to them next time
  • I'll add contacts myself
I had that top option selected (guess it' the default setting) ...

I like to see the collective contributions in this thread ...good ideas and posts peeps [emoji1303]

In the Me tab, tap Settings:

There you'll find it:

Speaking of Tapatalk, is there a setting to gray out read topics? I know it's there on the Android version and it's buried and I always have a hard time finding it LOL Just not sure if I'm missing it or if it's just not available

There's the Mark Read button in the Notifications tab, at the top left - the checkmark with three lines. Maybe that's what you were looking for.

I haven't seen any graying out read topics. You can long press on a thread to dismiss it as read. Say your on "Unread". Press on a thread and it goes away. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I've seen the "mark as read" options but that's not it. The one I'm looking for actually grays out a thread you've looked at after you back out of it

This is an amazing and very helpful thread!! I'm a previous Samsung user (6+ yrs). I picked up the IPhone 7 plus 256gig when the second Note 7 recall happened.

I have learned that I am a Google fan more than I am an Android fan. The past two weeks have taught me that IOS is pretty awesome and I could see myself staying with IPhone. I do find myself searching for a back button from time to time but I have learned there are a few different ways to get back when you need to.
Thanks for all the friendly help guys!

Totally agree - the fact that so many google apps are available makes things a lot easier. Like people say - on the iPhone, things just seem to work, which can't always be said for Android. I'm not "all in" yet - but, so far, so good.
