The haze in this picture is smoke from forest fires in northern Saskatchewan, several hundred miles north of Regina.
I passed by this house on my walk today. It was destroyed in a fire about a month ago. The family got out without any trouble.
It must be dangerous in northern Saskatchewan, when you notice some of the effects as well.
People living up norh lose their homes in fires like this. Sometime whole communities are burned. Fortunately few people live in far northern Saskatchewan.
Does this happen very often?
I hope there's no one hurt so far.
So do I.
So far this year there have been over 400 forest fires in northern Saskatchewan, almost 300 more than last year. At the current time there are about 70 active fires. Here's a photo and a news article.
